F.O.C.U.S. Follow One Course Until Successful

I would like to take credit for the title of this blog, but I can’t.  I am borrowing it from another consultant and Social Media Expert, Mari Smith.  Mari is an incredible talent and has some very illuminating things to say about Social Media Marketing.  She is also featured in the May 2011 edition of Success Magazine.  I believe the wisdom in Mari’s philosophy, when adapted and then applied to those of us in Government Contracting, is that it involves and includes both “The Basics” and “The Process”.  We will use the acronym F.O.C.U.S. to illustrate what we believe is the correct approach to Marketing at any level.

Choose a course, any course; determine the basic elements of it, then determine the one best/correct process by which to reach your end state and follow it over and over and over until you’re successful or you’ve thoroughly exhausted every possibility.  You get to decide how much time, effort and energy you devote to uncovering any hidden potential.  When you are completely satisfied there is not an opportunity for you, it is time to move to the next course.

Yes, this can be a long and tedious process.  This is the one way to be absolutely certain there is not an opportunity there for you.  You can officially scratch that agency or entity off your list.  This is clearly a process of elimination, but we all have to kiss some frogs before we find our prince or princess.

Remember the “Three Simple Truths” of Government Contracting as we journey together, they are critically important and will help keep you centered!

See you on the high ground!
